Hey guys! Happy almost-Friday! Today is actually kind of Friday for me because I’m off tomorrow for Ben’s brother’s wedding! I’m so excited and can’t wait to revisit Cincinnati.
Today I was kind of stumped about what I should blog about because my days have been jam-packed and I haven’t been able to take any pics for my blog! So I asked around and a few of you guys came up with some really good ideas (which I totally plan on doing soon, btw). BUT I realized I still haven’t shown you the progress I’ve made on mi casa!
I shared my apartment decor awhile back but since then I have repainted the wall color (I was dying every time I looked at it) but the way it happened was so ridiculous I have to share.
I’m kind of a psycho about wall color. Any time I paint, I bring home about 15-20 paint chips, tape them to the wall, and then just soak them in for a few days. And then one day I just point to one and I’m like YEP, THIS IS IT! And then I go buy it and immediately tape it up and get it done and never look back.
So I did the same thing this time, except when I went to Home Depot, I took the paint chip in and the lady behind the paint counter kind of gave me a hint-hint like hey your paint is probably going to be a little dark. And she showed me how to hold the chip up against bare white, and it shows you how the paint will actually reflect.
And basically I went a little crazy and picked a paint chip without ever holding it up to the wall.
This is SO unlike me.
So we get home, and it’s like 8 PM and I just can’t wait another minute. So I tape it up and start painting, and Ben is on the couch (obvi) and he’s like “It’s such a pretty blue!”
We are renters. When I asked our landlord if we could paint, I believe her words verbatim were “Sure, just don’t do anything super crazy like green or blue!”
And here I was painting our walls BLUE.
But of course I kept painting.
And luckily for me they literally dried SO pretty and I caught SUCH a lucky break and even though there is a slightly blue-ish tint, it’s definitely not a crazy color and I am obsessed. Even if I have to paint it back before I move out. LOL.
So with all that being said, our wall color is Behr Marquee in River Veil. I’ve done quite a bit of painting and honestly Behr Marquee is by far the closest to a one-coat color. The lady at Home Depot explained that you can get any color in “Marquee” but the only one-coat guarantee is a color from the Marquee selection itself. Just a fun fact. This is fully my opinion BTW. I’m not getting anything from Behr for plugging this wonderful paint. #iwish.
Anyyyyyway, without further ado, here is how it turned out! Enjoy! I will link as much as I can at the bottom of the post 🙂 And if there is anything that isn’t linked, my previous post about my apartment will probably have it!
Just a sidenote – my “art” is super thrifty. The cacti are prints purchased on Etsy for less than $10 and then uploaded to Walgreens. I think I paid $15 for each print by Googling coupon codes.
My horse prints are just pages ripped out of an old book that I found at a flea market. The guy was selling the pages for $0.50 each. All I did was throw them in a frame and voila!
So tell me… do you love the color? Too blue for you? Are you my landlord and I’m evicted? Tell me everything! I will see you Tuesday after the wedding! Woo! See you then. Xo.
